Today show host Jenna Bush Hager is turning to one of America’s most acclaimed novelists for her latest Read With Jenna book club pick.

Hager’s latest selection is Partita, the new novel from Women’s Prize– and Pulitzer Prize–winning author Barbara Kingsolver. The book follows Livia Cable, a troubled concert pianist who is contacted by an old lover who wants to see her again. In a starred review, a critic for Kirkus called the novel “brilliant, affecting work from one of contemporary literature’s masters.”

Hager announced the novel’s selection on the Today show, saying, “It is a sweeping novel from one of my Mount Rushmore authors.” The camera cut to a beaming Kingsolver handing out copies of her book to the crowd gathered on the plaza outside the Rockefeller Center studio. “If I were y’all, I’d get her to sign that,” Hager said.

Hager continued, “This is a love story full of music, art, and all the things that make life beautiful, and it asks us to look at the lives we’ve built, and wonder, Can our lives be broken and also extraordinary? I loved this book so much; I love this incredible author right here. She’s written some of my favorite things.”
